With the hardware now designed we were able to benefit from the 1,000,000 panel transfers and see how our design margin calculations had worked in practice. With the benefit of hindsight we chose to add more design margin in one area and add more fault tolerance in another.
The client was kept up to date with weekly reports and was intrigued by the results we were reporting. They asked if we could build a second loop line for them. We integrated all the learning from the initial loop line and rapidly built a second loop line.
Once installed it ran 650,000 panel transfers without a single assignable failure. Camshaft was then asked to build other hardware for the production line including re-designing one of our hardware modules so that the client was able to integrate it into the modules they were designing in-house.
The design is now proven and remains very simple and is now being transferred to China for volume production, leaving us to work on some more advanced hardware for the client. Watch the video here
